Green. For me, this colour personifies health and wellness. Therefore green smoothies are my favourite type of smoothies to have first thing in the morning to perk me up and to energize me. They help me get ready to face the day and the new opportunities it brings.
As you may know, I used to be sugar fiend, which worsened my health conditions and fatigue. I believe my body was craving the nutrients I wasn’t giving it, adding to the addiction. So I always craved more!
Now I tend to eat and drink only naturally occurring sugars and healthier sweeteners that provide me with some nutrients too, such as maple syrup and dates.
I have one smoothie every single morning (or in the evening sometimes) to top up on my daily nutrients and goodness, to help with mental clarity, energy and vitality. It is one of the best new habits I have made that has helped tremendously with my wellbeing.
If you find you are in too much of a rush in the mornings to prepare, one option is to prep a few days worth of smoothies in advance by adding the fruit (already chopped up) and any nuts, seeds or whole grains you intend to have for one smoothie in individual freezer bags. Then pop the bags in the fridge ready for the morning.
All you will then have to do each morning is to put the contents of one freezer bag straight into the blender and just combine the water, coconut water, or almond milk, or whatever your liquid of choice may be!
The kiwi and greens smoothie is a good one for homemade smoothie beginners who need to start off with their smoothies a little sweeter, as Kiwis have a strong taste, to mask all of the vegetables alongside it.
To produce, you’ll need a blender to keep in all of the nutrients. My favourites are my Nutribullet or a Vitamix blender.

Dee, this is my kind of breakfast! Thanks for the recipe!
I’m glad that you like it. I have started to swap spinach for kale in a lot of my smoothies. You should try it.
